Always on the front foot, the Jets took the initiative during a productive second quarter and never looked back as they eased their way to a vital victory in a must-win game.

There was a touch of nerves from Jets in the opening exchanges as they missed a number of easy looks at the basket but with Rocks starting slowly, the home team still managed to get their noses in front 20-17 after the first 10 minutes.

It was during the second period when Jets really began to shift through the gears thanks mainly to the inspirational Colin O'Reilly, who helped open up a 32-21 lead.

Defensively the Jets were also holding firm and after limiting the Rocks to just 15 points, they began the second half leading 46-32.

The visitors rallied when they returned to the floor with seven unanswered points but O'Reilly found his shooting touch again to put Jets on the verge of the play-offs at 67-48 ahead.

While nerves of home fans jangled slightly as Rocks threatened to launch a fight back at the start of the fourth, the Jets held their nerve to make sure they got themselves over the line.

Adam Brown gave great support to 29-point top scorer O'Reilly with 18 points, seven rebounds and six assists while Matt Schneck also impressed with 11 points and seven rebounds.

Elsewhere, Plymouth Raiders bounced back from last week's mauling in Leicester with a convincing 94-80 success against Worcester Wolves in the race to finish second.

The home side thrilled fans inside the Pavilions with a rapid-fire start as they posted a blistering 30-14 first quarter to leave Wolves trailing in their wake.

Worcester arrived in Devon full of confidence having hammered Riders on Saturday night but they were always second best against Raiders.

Michael Ojo produced a perimeter shooting masterclass during the first half making six of his first seven attempts from downtown as the hosts built up a lead of 19 in the early stages, although Wolves cut the gap to 50-38 at the half.

But, with James Jones pulling the strings in the backcourt to terrific effect and Paul Williams dominant in the frontcourt alongside Anthony Rowe to make up for the absence of Lehmon Colbert, Raiders didn't take their foot off the gas.

Wolves briefly cut the gap to single digits during the third quarter but still trailed 67-56 heading into the final period.

While they posted a 9-3 run to get within six points, a comeback never looked like materialising and so it proved as Raiders coasted to victory.

Ojo finished with an excellent 31 points thanks to converting seven triples, Williams finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds while Jones dished up an outrageously good 14 assists to go with his 11 points.

Arnas Kazlauskas and Tommy Freeman combined for 45 points for the visitors.

Also on Sunday, Mersey Tigers overcame the MK Lions 94-86, however Cheshire's win over Glasgow denied them a play-off place.
