The infringement took place last month in the Europa League last 16 first leg game at the Jose Alvalade stadium.

Sporting won the game 1-0 but action has been taken against Roberto Mancini's side for coming onto the field of play late after the interval.

City have been informed of their punishment and now have three days in which to lodge an appeal.

A fine of around €30,000 equates to about £24,740 for the Premier League club.
