NHL: Kings reign supremeA review of Wednesday's action in the National Hockey LeagueJustin Williams: Netted as the LA Kings beat the Calgary Flames The Los Angeles Kings moved back into the top eight of the Western Conference with a 3-0 win over the Calgary Flames. Willie Mitchell, Dustin Brown and Justin Williams scored the goals which not only boosted the Kings' play-off hopes, but also dented those of their opponents. The New York Rangers rallied from 2-0 down to extend their lead at the top of the Eastern Conference to five points by beating the Winnipeg Jets 4-2. Michael Del Zotto, Ryan Callahan, Brian Boyle and Derek Stepan got the goals for the Rangers after Spencer Machacek and Bryan Little had put the Jets in control midway through the second period. Chris Higgins scored the only goal as the Vancouver Canucks dealt the Colorado Avalanche's play-off hopes a blow with a 1-0 win, a result which also saw the Nashville Predators - who had the night off - book their post-season place. Michael Ryder scored twice as the Dallas Stars beat the Edmonton Oilers 3-1, while the Anaheim Ducks were eliminated despite beating the San Jose Sharks by the same scoreline and the Columbus Blue Jackets were 4-2 winners over the Detroit Red Wings. |
