Skiing: Jansrud ends waitNorwegian finally takes maiden World Cup victoryKjetil Jansrud: Delighted with maiden World Cup victory Kjetil Jansrud claimed his first ever World Cup victory by taking the Super-G race in front of a home crowd in Kvitfjell. The Norwegian, who had previously recorded nine podium finishes without claiming top spot, set a winning time of 1 minute 34.02 seconds. Jansrud took the win after two recent near misses, the 26-year-old finishing third in Friday in Friday's Super-G and second in Saturday's downhill. Fellow Norwegian Aksel Lund Svindal finished in second position, 0.21s behind the winner, while overall World Cup leader Beat Feuz of Switzerland was five hundredths further back in third. A pair of Austrians - Klaus Kroell and Max Franz - rounded out the top five, with the former unable to complete a hat-trick of wins over the weekend. Jansrud said: "To win my first World Cup race ahead of a skier like Aksel, in front of my home crowd, what more can you dream of?" "Today I decided to forget the previous races here. I pressed the reset button and took every chance, knowing that my weekend had been a success already." Feuz now leads the overall standings 115 points over Austria's Marcel Hirscher, who was absent from the races in Kvitfjell this weekend. In the Super-G standings, reigning Olympic champion Svindal holds a 42-point advantage over Didier Cuche. |
