Smith leaves DeepdaleScottish full-back Steven Smith has had his contract at Preston cancelled by mutual consent - two months ahead of schedule. The 26-year-old arrived at Deepdale from Norwich last August but managed only 14 appearances following a host of injuries. Smith made his debut in a 2-0 win over Chesterfield, with his last outing coming in the defeat at Colchester on March 3. A club statement added: "The club would like to wish Steven well in the next chapter of his career, which is believed to be overseas."
