Storm dump champions outTeamBath fall victim to late turnaround against SurreyDunn: Led Surrey comeback Surrey Storm staged a dramatic comeback to eliminate defending champions TeamBath in the FIAT Netball Superleague play-offs after a 57-53 win. The visitors were nine goals down with four minutes to play in the second quarter at the Sports Training Village at the University of Bath but a positional switch changed the course of the game, which can been viewed on Sky Sports HD4 next Wednesday. Tamsin Greenway swapped her GA bid with WA Gemma Cosentino and it unsettled Bath, giving her team a chance to fight their way back into the match. After a tight opening, Bath managed to edge ahead and were still five goals in front going into the final 15 minutes. But Surrey went on a surge with Rachel Dunn in a bullish mood having been given a thorough testing by her England team-mates and Bath opponents Stacey Francis and Eboni Beckford-Chambers. Final pushDunn netted 18 from her 20 attempts in the final push and was named player of the match as the comeback was completed. Absolutely fantastic, we have been getting better and better as the season's gone on and that's our third performance of quality, I couldn't be happier really - we've just got to do it twice more," Storm coach Mary Beardwood said. TeamBath head coach Jess Garland added: "I'd say (we were the better team for) three (quarters). "Surrey did well at the end of every quarter because they always came back at a run but we still managed to get a lead in each quarter we still managed to extend the lead. I don't think 11-20 is a fair reflection - I don't think my team are that bad. "We didn't stick to tasks defensively we lost some structure in the attacking end and they shut down Rosie very well. But I really question how often Eboni was blown up and I'm genuinely bemused." |
