The St Helens full-back was found guilty of a grade B dangerous throw on Warrington stand-off Lee Briers during his side's 28-16 Stobart Super League win at the Halliwell Jones Stadium on Friday.

Wellens submitted a letter of reference from Briers in his appeal hearing, which was heard on Wednesday afternoon, but the panel ruled that Wellens was responsible for putting his opponent in a dangerous position.
