Ziga Jeglic put Slovenia ahead in the fourth minute but Colin Shields, who has signed for Sheffield Steelers for next season, levelled three minutes later.

David Rodman restored Slovenia's advantage in the 13th minute but again Britain responded and Craig Peacock tied it up once more just 75 seconds into the middle session.

A tight final period was then decided when Tomaz Razingar netted the game-winning goal for Slovenia with three minutes remaining. GB pulled netminder Stephen Murphy in a bid to secure a point but to no avail.

GB are back in action on Monday when they face Austria.
