'Tough day' for HansonSwede disappointed to let overnight lead slip on final day
Peter Hanson: Surrendered overnight lead to finish joint third Peter Hanson admitted his slow start proved costly as he was forced to settle for a share of third place at The Masters. The Swede started the final round with a one-shot advantage, playing in the final group alongside Phil Mickelson, but got off to a bad start with a bogey at the opening hole. He then dropped a further shot at the third after Louis Oosthuizen had taken the lead with his sensational albatross at the second. Eight straight pars followed before another bogey at the 12th, but he steadied the ship and claimed joint third-place with birdies at 15 and 18. "It was a pretty tough day for us. Both me and Phil didn't play great," said Hanson. "I got off to a pretty bad start with two early bogeys and didn't make a lot of putts. "I was really struggling with the speed on the greens. They were a little bit quicker than yesterday and I kind of adjusted to that and got a little defensive with the putter. "There were a few nerves but I really enjoyed playing with Phil. But today unfortunately it didn't work out and I didn't make enough putts. "I'm a little disappointed but when I think about it it's been a really great tournament."
