The 33-year-old former St Helens, Warrington and New Zealand Warriors player, who is out of contract at the end of the season, is thought to have sustained the injury in a collision with team-mate Lee Jewitt during the home defeat to Hull KR on Easter Monday.

A Salford spokesman said: "He has had investigative surgery after hyper-extending a ligament.

"He also has a potential small fracture which has shown up on the scan but the physio is quite pleased with how it's gone so far."
