The Bundesliga outfit have decided not to offer the 32-year-old, who is currently recovering from a knee injury, a new contract and so he will become a free agent in the summer.

Barth joined Freiburg from Fortuna Dusseldorf at the start of the 2007/08 season and helped win promotion to the top flight in 2009 in an enjoyable career with the club.

He is therefore disappointed to be leaving, as he told kicker-Sportmagazin: "I am to leave the club this summer. I can confirm this.

"Of course, I am disappointed about the decision taken by the club. I have spent a lot of time at this club and I was of the opinion I had won some reputation throughout the years."
