The Worcester Wolves closed the gap to just two points at the top of the BBL Championship table thanks to a comfortable 94-65 victory over the Cheshire Jets.

Both sides traded baskets for the majority of the opening exchanges with the Wolves establishing themselves first in the contest thanks to an Arnas Kazlauskas three-pointer to spark a 10-2 burst to take the score out to 16-11. The Jets got themselves back on track to lead 21-20 thanks to a Matt Schneck basket with two minutes left, but the Wolves bagged the final six points of the quarter to lead 26-21 at the end of the first stanza.

In the second quarter, baskets from Bill Cole and Adam Brown brought the Jets to within a point at in the early exchanges, but it was as close as they would get for the remainder of the half as the Wolves broke the game open with an 18-2 tear to take the score out to 44-27 with less than three minutes remaining in the half.

The home side rallied a little thanks to five points from Cole, but a David Watts three-pointer at the end of the period sent the teams into the locker rooms with the visitors leading by 17 points at 32-49 at the half.

In the second half, a Carlos Fernandez basket midway through the third quarter extended the Wolves lead to 23 points at 61-38, but a 13-3 burst from the Jets, including eight points from Adam Brown, closed the gap significantly to 64-51 with a minute remaining in the period. Baskets from Sherrad Prezzie-Blue and Richie Gordon to end the quarter made sure that the Wolves remained comfortably in front.

In the final period, the Jets tried valiantly to get themselves back into the contest, but they could not get any closer than 19 points as the Wolves continued to extend the lead throughout the final period enjoying their biggest lead of the contest at 29 points thanks to a three-pointer from Prezzie-Blue to make the score 86-57 midway through the period. Despite the best efforts of the side to close the deficit for the remainder of the game, it was the Wolves who ended up comfortable winners on the night.

Prezzie-Blue was the main man for the Wolves as he netted 20 points for the victors, but Brown led all scorers on the night with 22 points personal for the Jets.

Glasgow Rocks 60 (14,31,44) (Green 15, Wedermire 14, Murray 12)
UCP Marjon Plymouth Raiders 71 (14,30,53) (Rowe 20, Bell/Colbert/Williams 10)

Plymouth Raiders bounced back from the disappointment of losing out on capturing the BBL Trophy on Friday to continue their push for a second place finish in the table thanks to a 71-60 victory over the Glasgow Rocks.

In a low-scoring first quarter finished level at 14-14. The Raiders started strongly as they opened up an early lead, but the Rocks came storming back at them as a DeAnundre Cranston basket sparked a 9-2 run.

In the second quarter, the game remained close as both teams try to establish themselves offensively, and a Michael Ojo three-pointer for the visitors did just that as the Raiders opened up a 25-21 lead with 3:30 remaining in the half. The Rocks were not to be outdone as another Green triple helped them into a 29-27 lead off the back of an 8-2 burst. Both teams continued to trade baskets and despite Anthony Martin making one of his free-throws after an unsportsmanlike foul by Green, it was the home side who took a slender one-point lead at 31-30 into the locker rooms at the half.

In the second half, the Raiders came out firing on all cylinders and an Anthony Rowe basket sparked a 16-2 burst for the visitors to take the score out to 46-33 midway through the quarter.

Four points from Andrew Wedermire helped the Rocks trim the deficit back to six points at 46-40, but that was as close as they would get for the remainder of the period as the Raiders increased their lead slightly over the last three minutes of the quarter to lead 53-44 heading into the final stanza.

In the final period, a Bell basket gave the Raiders their biggest lead of the game at 14 points with the score at 60-46. The Rocks kept themselves in with a chance of getting right back into the game as they got back to within nine points with 1:28 remaining in the game, but this was as close as the home side would get in the contest as the Raiders kept them at bay and secured the victory from the charity strip.

Rowe enjoyed an impressive double-double performance for the Raiders as he collected a 20-point, 20-rebound game to lead all scorers, while Green was the pick of the Rocks scorers as he ended the game with a team-high 15 points.

Guildford Heat 97 (20,46,72) (McLemore 26, Ogendengbe/Williams 12)
Durham Wildcats 59 (22,31,50) (Glavan 17, Capocci 16, Flaherty 8)

Guildford Heat kept their play-off challenge on track as they picked up a comfortable 97-59 victory over the Durham Wildcats.

In a tight opening quarter, five points from DJ Glavan gave the visitors a four-point advantage at 14-10 midway through the opening period. Both sides traded baskets for the remainder of the quarter to leave the Wildcats leading 22-20 heading into the second period.

In the second quarter however, the Heat began strongly and rattled off a quick-fire 16-2 burst, including six points from Tayo Ogendengbe, to take the score out to 36-24 midway through the period. A further basket from Ogendengbe gave the home side a 17 point lead at 46-29, but Paul Elderkin bagged the final basket of the half to send the Wildcats into the locker rooms trailing by 15 points at 46-31 at the half.

In the second half, a 13-2 tear from the home side extended their lead out to 29 points at 68-39, but the visitors valiantly tried to get themselves back into the contest thanks to an 11-4 finish to the third period trimmed the deficit back to 22 points at 72-50 heading into the final stanza.

In the final period a basket from Mike Capocci kept the deficit at 22 points at 76-54 but that was as close as the Wildcats would get for the remainder of the contest as the Heat finished the game strongly and enjoyed their biggest lead of the game at the end thanks to a Dean Williams basket to cap a 16-0 burst to give the Heat the all-important victory.

Martelle McLemore led all scorers in the contest with 26 points, with Ogendengbe and Williams chipping in with 12 points a-piece for good measure, for the home side, while Glavan led the scoring for the Wildcats with 17 points personal.
