Bell thinks bigYork and Ascot options for sprinting star
Margot Did: King's Stand target but could run at York beforehand Michael Bell has big plans for stable stars Margot Did and Wigmore Hall who both ran well on World Cup night at Meydan last month. Last year's Nunthorpe winner Margot Did finished in the midfield over the lightning quick five furlongs of the Al Quoz Sprint, and Bell is keen to get his charge back on a slightly easier surface in Britain, with a return to York a real possibility. Bell said: "Both horses are in good form. Margot Did could go for the Duke of York Stakes next. "She ran respectably in Dubai but I just think she needs a bit of ease in the ground to be at her best, and it was obviously very fast at Meydan, with the race run in a very quick time. "Going to York will obviously mean going back up to six furlongs, but it is an easy six furlongs and it will be interesting to see how she gets on if she does go there. The King's Stand at Royal Ascot is the race I'm aiming for." Wigmore TravellingHold-up performer Wigmore Hall finished strongly to place fourth in the Dubai Duty Free and having won a Grade One in Canada last year, the five-year-old gelding could be on his travels again. "He's another one who probably isn't at his best when the ground is very quick, but he ran a good race," the trainer added. "I'm talking to the International Racing Bureau about what penalties he would have for some races in North America. "The Arlington Million is his principal target and we'll just work back from there. There are races in America for him and there will be the usual 10-furlong Group One races here for him as well, including the Prince of Wales's Stakes at Ascot."
