The former rugby league player has been with the South Yorkshire club since 2005, making 188 appearances in that time.

Boden has made 21 starts for Doncaster this season, splitting time with Jack Yeandle, scoring once against Nottingham.

The 29-year-old wants to remain part-time meaning the re-introduction of full-time rugby at Castle Park next season has left him searching for a fresh challenge.

Coach Brett Davey has been delighted with the hooker's service over the years, stating the loss of the influential player as 'disappointing'.

"Steve has played a huge part in this club over his seven years and it's disappointing when something like this happens and an influential player and person leaves," Davey told the club's official website.

"He goes with our best wishes as not only a great player, but a great coach. We gave him the opportunity this year to coach the scrum and he's done a brilliant job.

"Personally I would like to thank him for all he has done for the club and wish him the best of luck in the future."
