Button: Updates to stay aheadBritish driver hoping upgrades will keep McLaren at the frontJenson Button has played down suggestions that McLaren will make a major leap forward this weekend in China through the raft of upgrades the team are bringing to Shanghai. Technical Director Paddy Lowe confirmed the team would be bringing a lot of new parts to this weekend's race, but the 2009 World Champion isn't convinced McLaren will extend their advantage. The Woking-based team have locked out the front row at both of the races so far this season, but Button feels the development work is just about trying to maintain their position at the front. "We are always looking to improve and you can't stand still. Whether it is enough to stay ahead of everyone I don't really know it is difficult," Button told Sky Sports. "There are some improvements but it's not a massive amount in terms of lap time, but I don't think anyone is really going to find a massive amount with the restrictions we have in the regulations in terms of the blown diffusor and a lot of other areas on the car, it's very difficult to find big chunks of time, particularly when you are leading the pack. "It is a lot easier for other people to copy what you have on the car, but I hope we have enough and that we have done enough. Tyres"This weekend is going to be important about getting an understanding on the tyres around here and it's going to be quite cool so it's going to be tough to find the right balance, but that's what we are here to do." The tyres had a major influence on last year's race with a mix of strategies leading to a thrilling climax to the race. Lewis Hamilton caught and passed Sebastian Vettel with just four laps to go, whilst Mark Webber's strategy allowed him to be the quickest on the circuit in the closing stages as he passed Button to take the final podium place. "They (the tyres) are a lot easier to understand than last year which is good," he said. "There were very different strategies last year, Mark obviously starting 17th on the grid and overtaking on the last couple of laps to finish third. "I think we were at a point of the season last year of still trying to understand the tyres and that was why it was such a mixed up result in terms of strategies. "I think it will be a bit more simple here (this year), if it's dry that is. It will be a bit more like Melbourne I hope."
