James ends Boks careerFormer Bath player won his last cap during the 2011 World Cup
Butch James: South Africa's most capped fly-half South African Butch James has retired from international rugby, ending a 42-Test career that included winning the 2007 World Cup. The 33-year-old is the most capped No.10 for the Springboks, having played 37 matches in the position since making his debut back in 2001. He made his senior provincial debut in 1999 for the Sharks but is now with the Golden Lions, helping them to glory in the Currie Cup last season. He also enjoyed a stint with Bath, playing in 68 games during his time in England. James, who made his last appearance for his country at the 2011 World Cup as a replacement against Wales, admitted it had not been an easy decision. Great career"I've had a great career playing for South Africa, the Sharks, Bath and the MTN Lions, but I'm not getting any younger and I knew this was the right decision to make, even though it was very difficult," said James. "I think I've got one or two more years of rugby left in me and all I want to concentrate on at this stage is to give nothing less than 100 per cent on the field and enjoy my game. "I've been fortunate to have a long career playing at the top level and I'll look back at my time with the Springboks with nothing but fondness."
