21:16 Jets make Tebow trade |
Jets make Tebow tradeNew York move for Tebow 24 hours Manning moveTim Tebow: Moving to New York Jets The New York Jets wasted little time in giving Tim Tebow a new home, trading for the unwanted Denver Broncos quarterback. Peyon Manning's big arrival at Denver meant Tebow was surplus to requirements, with the four-time MVP bound to want to run his own offence which was as far removed from Tebow's run-first approach as you could get. Almost as the ink was drying on Manning's contract possible destinations were cropping up for Tebow, with teams such as Jacksonville, New England and even Green Bay linked in trade rumours. However, the Big Apple will now be his next home, with the Jets trading a fourth and sixth round pick in return for Tebow and a seventh-rounder from the Broncos. Despite obvious concerns over his throwing capability, Tebow's running power and sheer will to win managed to get the Broncos into the play-offs last season. PositiveTebow made numerous fourth-quarter comebacks and threw a thrilling touchdown pass to beat the Pittsburgh Steelers in the play-offs. The Broncos eventually lost to the New England Patriots. Sanchez led the Jets to within one game of the Super Bowl in his first two seasons in New York, but they failed to make the play-offs in 2011. The Jets, though, still handed him a new contract this off-season. Denver executive John Elway and coach John Fox revealed that they called Tebow on Monday night to tell him it was possible he would be traded. "I'm sure he was disappointed," Elway said. "He didn't come out and say he was disappointed. I think it was a typical Tim Tebow response in the fact that he was very positive, and he said, 'Well, we're talking about Peyton Manning, and I understand exactly what you're doing.'" Elway said he wanted to do right by Tebow, who took over a 1-4 team and led the Broncos to the AFC West title and a playoff win over Pittsburgh. "It would be our goal to get him in the best situation possible for him to have success also," Elway said. |
