Jewell - We were better teamFreedman proud of Palace's season
Paul Jewell: Glad to see Jason Scotland score but thinks his Ipswich team could have beaten Palace Ipswich boss Paul Jewell felt a point was the least his side deserved after their 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. Jason Scotland's effort from outside the box just before the hour mark cancelled out Chris Martin's first-half opener to make it six matches without a win for Dougie Freedman's Palace side. But despite the equaliser, Jewell was still a little frustrated his side had been unable to claim all three points. "It was a really good goal after a nice move but that was the least we deserved from the game," he said. "Jason had a great volley in the first half and it was good to see him get the goal in the end. "We're actually tinged with a bit of disappointment because we feel we were the better team, but a point away from home is never a bad result. "We did well to keep some of their creative players quiet for most of the match and it sets us up well to have a strong finish to the season." PositivesInjury-hit Palace look like ending their season with a whimper only weeks after Freedman was clinging to hopes of a late play-off push. But the Palace boss preferred to focus on the positives after ending a run of three consecutive defeats. "I thought it was a fair result," said Freedman. "I'm a little bit disappointed not to have won having taken the lead but it's important that we have stopped the rot of the last few games. "There's lot of positives from the game because our young players showed they can compete with an experienced team. "When we started the season, my short-term mission was to bring back a winning culture to the club and move us up the table. "We've had some fantastic results this season and I think we have done ourselves proud."
