Kean rues failure to scoreFantastic Foster double save pivotal point in match says KeanBlackburn boss Steve Kean rued a failure to score after seeing his side lose 3-0 to West Brom at The Hawthorns. The Baggies went ahead early on via a Martin Olsson own goal before Ben Foster pulled off a magnificent double save to deny Yakubu Ayegbeni and Bradley Orr an equaliser early in the second period. Goals from Marc-Antoine Fortune and Liam Ridgewell sealed the win for the hosts to leave Kean's side in the relegation zone. The Blackburn boss told Sky Sports: "I don't think it (the scoreline) was (a fair reflection of the game) because I looked at the first half and I felt we were poor but I felt second half we came out much better, much more positive. "We managed to get a lot of possession, we managed to get a lot of chances and I think we ended up with a high percentage of shots on target, almost just as much as West Brom. Pivotal point"But we had to score - I mean I think the double save was a pivotal point in the result really and where the points went because I think if we could have got a goal and went to 1-1 with the momentum and the way we'd started the second half, I think we would have went on to get something from the game." Kean was encouraged with the way his side responded and insists there is all to play for in the relegation battle ahead. "We might be fortunate this week because other results at this moment seem to have gone our way and we've got a massive game now against Liverpool coming up on Tuesday," he said. "I think against Manchester United before today's game there was lots of encouragement in the way we played for 80 minutes but we lost. "Today we lost but I think the second half display showed that we can make chances and if we take those chances and we can get our nose in front or get back into it again, there's plenty of points still to be won. "We might have just got away with it this weekend because of the results so far, all be it that QPR could get a result tomorrow but by the same token if they lose and they lose heavily we could actually get out of the bottom three, that's how tight it is." |
