Murray's golden goodbyeBritish hope aims to end on a high at his fourth Paralympic Games
Nigel Murray: The Boccia legend targets gold in London- his fourth Paralympic Games. Boccia history man Nigel Murray is targeting a golden Paralympics farewell after being selected to represent Great Britain at his fourth Games. Murray won Britain's first individual gold medal in the sport at the Sydney Paralympics in 2000 and he followed that with team gold in Beijing. The 47-year-old, selected on Wednesday as part of a nine-strong boccia squad, feels London 2012 could be his last Paralympics and he is targeting two gold medals. He said: "I am just as excited about London, which will be my fourth Games, as I was about my first. "I am as excited as all of my team-mates at the chance to win that gold. I can assure you that there is no greater feeling." Extended squadMurray is joined in the BC1/BC2 categories by David Smith, Dan Bentley and Zoe Robinson, who all tasted success in Beijing, plus brothers Paul and Stephen Macguire. Since 2008, GB Boccia have extended the squad to include top BC3 and BC4 athletes. BC4 is for athletes who have impairments other than cerebral palsy and BC3 is for athletes who use a ramp to play the sport. Jessica Hunter and Jacob Thomas were both identified in a joint UK Sport and BPA talent search and have made the squad for London 2012. Murray believes Britain are well placed to build on their team success from the Beijing Paralympics and deliver a Games to remember for the home support in London. PassionHe added: "You are only as good as your last game. We believe that we can emulate our success in London. We are all hungry to do that. "I think that for me the time when you do not feel that passion to win is the time to call it a day." The nine boccia athletes are among 80 to have been confirmed as part of the ParalympicsGB squad, with the judo and powerlifting teams also announced on Wednesday. Sam Ingram, who won judo bronze at the Beijing Paralympics, is joined in the squad by his brother Joe. Dan and Marc Powell will compete in their first Paralympics but follow in the footsteps of their father, Terry, who represented Great Britain at both the Seoul and Atlanta Games. The British judo team is completed by Ben Quilter, the current European and world champion in the -60kg category. The British Paralympic Association also announced six powerlifting athletes, including Anthony Peddle who is preparing for his seventh Paralympic Games.
