Nadal, Djokovic in record bidTop two in the world to play exhibition at Real Madrid's Bernabeu
Novak Djokovic (left) and Rafael Nadal: Bernabeu showdown for charity Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal will try to set a record attendance for a tennis match when they clash at Real Madrid's Bernabeu stadium in July. The charity event, to be played on July 14, is being organised by the Realmadrid Foundation and the Rafa Nadal Foundation, with the proceeds going to projects developed by both around the world. "The objective of this exhibition match is to set a spectator record for a game of tennis, exceeding 80,000," Real Madrid said on their official website. Nadal is a well-known Real fan while world No. 1 Djokovic has been a guest of honour at the club's facilities, and once wore a Real shirt when he walked out for a tennis match at the Madrid Masters. The current record is believed to be the 35,681 spectators who watched Serena Williams and Kim Clijsters play at King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels, Belgium, on 8 July 2010. This broke the previous record of 30,372 people who witnesses Billie Jean King defeat Robert Larimore Riggs in the "Battle of the Sexes" in Houston on 20 September 1973.
