National: Jockeys' reactionWalsh has 'unbelievable spin' on Seabass
Jacob: Didn't miss a beat on Neptune Daryl Jacob (Neptune Collonges, winner): "I didn't know where the winning line was but I knew that, inch by inch, I was starting to grind him down. Luckily enough the line came and we held on just enough to get there. He knew what pace he was going and I just trusted him on it. I don't think he missed a beat the whole way round." Richie McLernon (Sunnyhillboy, second): "He really travelled well for me and I wasn't sure whether I had won or not. He didn't deserve to be beaten because he ran a fantastic race for me but that's how it goes." Katie Walsh (Seabass, third): "I had an unbelievable spin. It was a fantastic experience. It was great to get round. I can't believe it's all over and I can't wait to do it again. At the third-last I was going OK. I pulled down my goggles turning in and Barry (Geraghty, on Shakalakaboomboom) said to me 'you're not going too bad' but I knew then I wasn't going to win. "I was just delighted to be placed." Paul Moloney (Cappa Bleu, finished fourth): "It didn't go to plan really. I nearly got brought down at Foinavon and I had to use him up to get into a rhythm but he ran a tremendous race. I'd like to ride him again next year." Niall Madden (In Compliance, finished fifth): "He ran a blinder, the start messed me up a bit but they went a good enough gallop and and I can't knock him." Jason Maguire (Ballabriggs, finished sixth): "He gave me a super ride again, and jumped well. It was just the extra weight that did for him in the closing stages." Sam Twiston-Davies (Hello Bud, finished seventh): "That was class, he gave me a great ride. I thought for a long way we were going to be in the places. He's a legend, I just sit and steer." Brian O'Connell (Tharawaat, finished eighth): "The ground was a bit quick for him. I had a good position early but he couldn't hold it. Once I gave him a squeeze to pass a few he flew home as if he wanted five miles. Barry Geraghty (Shakalakaboomboom, finished ninth): "He ran a cracker, he's an eight-year-old and you'd like to think he would be back next year. He jumped brilliantly and ran a great race." Conor O'Farrell (Swing Bill, finished 10th): "Great fun, my first time and I got a great spin of him and I can't wait for next year." Andrew Tinkler (The Midnight Club, finished 11th): "I got a great ride of him. It took him a while to warm to it but once he'd warmed to it I just lacked a bit of tactical speed, but he ran very well." Richard Johnson (Planet Of Sound, finished 12th): "He ran really well but just didn't get four and a half miles." Felix De Giles (Neptune Equester, finished 13th): "I was very unlucky early on and was hampered by loose horses and fallers so I ended up a little far back. He kept staying on and has run a very good race." Dominic Elsworth (Calgary Bay, finished 14th): "He just got a bit tired. I suffered interference from loose horses but otherwise it was fine." Paul Townend (On His Own, fell 22nd): "He was running a very big race, I was getting a great ride off him, but that's the National." Robbie Power (Killyglen, unseated rider 8th): "I went at Canal Turn first time where he made a mistake. He remembered last year and didn't take to it this time." David Casey (Quiscover Fontaine, fell 17th): "I fell at the first fence on the second circuit - he was giving me a great spin but got too close and landed steep." Harry Skelton (Vic Venturi, refused 19th): "It didn't go according to plan but me and the horse are in one piece." Adrian Lynch (Treacle, fell 10th): "Three horses fell in front of me at various fences and it knocked his confidence. He fell and it's just one of those things." Davy Russell (Alfa Beat, fell seventh): "I was lucky at the first as he slithered into it. At the seventh he just took his eye off it and that was it." Denis O'Regan (Black Apalachi, fell eighth): "He fell at Canal Turn first time. He got in tight and tipped over, he's fine and I hacked him back." Paul Carberry (Chicago Grey, brought down fifth): "I got brought down at the one before Becher's on the first circuit." Andrew Thornton (Tatenen, unseated eighth): "I was wiped out at Canal Turn first time. It can happen. He was in a good rhythm." Jamie Moore (Deep Purple, pulled up before 19th): "He just didn't fancy going round on the second circuit and there is no point in fighting a losing battle." Tom Scudamore (Junior, fell at the 2nd): "It was brief unfortunately. We just clipped the second one and it was all over. He has been checked by the vet and we are both safe and sound." Wayne Hutchinson (West End Rocker, fell 2nd): "We were just too quick and got too deep to the second." Bryan Cooper (Rare Bob, brought down 5th): "We just didn't get round." Nina Carberry (Organisedconfusion, unseated 8th): "I got sandwiched at the Canal Turn and there are no chances there. He was taking to the fences very well before that." Aidan Coleman (Mon Mome, pulled up before 22nd): "He's older now and I just couldn't get him going so we got a bit far behind. To be fair to the old boy he gave me a fantastic spin, he knows his way round here. He's been such a fantastic servant and to be fair to him he looked after me, it is just that his younger rivals have more legs than him." Mark Walsh (Arbor Supreme, unseated 10th): "My fella didn't enjoy that backing off everywhere. He just didn't like the fences." Dougie Costello (Postmaster, pulled up before 22nd): "Brilliant spin, but he bled, so that is why we pulled up." Paddy Brennan (Giles Cross, pulled up before 11th): "The ground was too quick and he never got into a rhythm." Paul Townend (On His Own, fell 22nd): He was running a very big race, and I was getting a great ride off him, but that's the National." Davy Condon (Becauseicouldntsee, hampered and unseated 8th): "He got hampered at the Canal Turn when Nina (Carberry on Organisedconfusion) fell (unseated) and he lost a little bit off confidence and was never really happy after that. He might have remembered his fall from last year."
