Ten-year veteran and Pro Bowl selection Lloyd is the biggest name of the trio, with him signing a three-year deal worth $12 million to join Bill Belichick's side.

Lloyd will be reunited with his former Denver coach Josh McDaniels, now the Pats' offensive coordinator, under whom he enjoyed his best season in 2010 when he caught 77 passes for 1,448 yards and 11 touchdowns.

"I'm ready for work," Lloyd said. "The time for talking is done. I couldn't be more excited."

Lloyd was traded to the St Louis Rams during last season and, despite their struggles and multiple quarterback injuries, he still managed 51 catches for 683 yards and five TDs in his 11 games.

Lloyd also received an offer from his former team San Francisco, but with doubts still over who will be their starting quarterback next season, he opted to join Tom Brady in New England.

Gonzalez capture

The Pats have also brought in former Indianapolis Colts wideout Anthony Gonzalez to add further depth to their receiving corps.

The first round pick out of the 2007 draft has struggled with injuries but has looked the part when fit and healthy and on the field - making 99 career receptions for 1,307 yards and seven touchdowns in five seasons with the Colts.

Troubled receiver Donte Stallworth is the third new receiver heading to Foxborough, reportedly signing a one-year deal with the AFC champions.

Stallworth was suspended in 2009 violating the league's personal conduct policy for a DUI vehicular manslaughter charge, and has failed to find a settled home since.

After just 17 receptions in 2008 in Cleveland before his suspension, he then caught just two balls for Baltimore in 2010 and 22 during last year with the Washington Redskins.

31-year-old Stallworth played for the Patriots back in 2007 when they went 18-0 but lost in the Super Bowl to the New York Giants - and recorded 46 receptions for 697 yards and three touchdowns.

All three additions add options and cover behind Wes Welker, who has been given the franchise tag, and cast doubt on Chad Ochocinco's future with the team after he caught just 15 passes in 15 regular season games last year.

Ochocinco failed to get to grips fully with the offence, and the Pats had to learn heavily on Welker and their two star tight ends Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez.

New England have also brought in another tight end in free agency, with former Denver Broncos man Daniel Fells signing a three-year deal worth up to $7 million.

The 28-year-old will add more depth at the position that has become so vital to the offence in the last couple of years, with Gronkowski and Hernandez the only two tight ends on the roster and with the use of two tight end sets so crucial to their game plan.

Gronkowski's injury at the Super Bowl highlighted their lack of depth at the position with a huge portion of their offensive pays taken out by his injury, but with Fells and three new receivers Belichick hopes to plug that gap for next season.

The Pats have signed nine free agents from other teams so far, with two others being defensive end Trevor Scott from Oakland and cornerback Marquice Cole from the New York Jets.
