21:49 Pirates too good for Wolves |
Pirates too good for WolvesPoole take Elite ShieldChris Holder: Top scored for Poole (Pic credit Mike Hivnes) Poole Pirates were far too good for Wolverhampton Wolves as they took the Elite Shield after a 58-34 second leg victory at Wimborne Road. The Pirates had already taken the first leg and they followed that up with victory on the South Coast which meant they won 104-78 on aggregate. Chris Holder top scored for The Pirates with paid 14 and was backed up by Darcy Ward with paid 13. Skipper Freddie Lindgren topped the Wolves scoring with 12 but he was the only visitor to hit double figures. Lindgren got the visitors off to a decent start when beating home favourite Holder in Heat 1, but the Dorset side quickly responded with successive 5-1s to lead 13-5. Lindgren donned the black and white helmet in Heat 11 but could only manage a double-point second place behind Adrian Miedzinski and the race was shared 4-4. And that unfortunately was as close as they were to get to the Elite League title favourites with Holder, Ward and Miedzinski all finishing strongly leaving the Pirates comfortable winners. |
