Quartet commit to BrumbiesNew deals for Toomua, Lealiifano, Murphy, Sio and SpeightThe Brumbies have been buoyed by news that Matt Toomua, Christian Lealiifano, Ruaidhri Murphy, Scott Sio and Henry Speight have all agreed new deals. The Canberra club might have seen Michael Hooper turn down the chance to remain - however the quartet of Toomua, Lealiifano, Murphy, Sio and Speight have all rejected the lure of other clubs to sign two-year contracts. Fly-half Lealiifano has been a key figure in the Brumbies backline, scoring 115 points in 49 appearances, while fellow No.10 Toomua has played 29 times Props Sio and Murphy are both in their debut seasons at the club but have already made big impressions, while Fiji-born winger Speight's new deal will see him qualify for the Wallabies under IRB residency rules. And Toomua, who has been ruled out for the season after surgery on his knee, has hailed the impact that coach Jake White has had on the squad. "I love Canberra, this has been my home for almost a fifth of my life now and it's a pleasure to be staying here with the Brumbies for another two years," Toomua told the club's official site. "Everyone at the club feels like we're on the edge of something special here and with such a young squad we have a chance to build on that over the next four or five years. "Jake's had a huge impact on the club and where it's going. He and the rest of our management have worked really hard to get the rugby program back to where it should have been and I think we are only just starting to see some of the positives that will bring. "It was disappointing to hurt myself so early in the season, but re-signing with the club has given me plenty of motivation to get back into training and prepare for the future."
