Terms of the deal were not disclosed by the Seahawks but the NFL's official website reported it was for three years and $26 million, with $10m of that guaranteed.

Flynn, 26, was a free agent after spending the first four years of his professional career as Aaron Rodgers' back-up in Green Bay.

He has made just two starts during that span but impressed in both, including a six-touchdown display in the Packers' win over Detroit last season.

In Seattle, Flynn will compete for the starting role with Tarvaris Jackson, who defied a pectoral injury to lead the Seahawks to a 7-9 record last season.
