Serie A round-upMilan beaten, Inter held as Lecce and Udinese both winAmauri: Veteran striker scored a late winner as Fiorentina stunned AC Milan 2-1 at San Siro Serie A leaders AC Milan suffered a shock home defeat by Fiorentina as Inter Milan were held away from home by Cagliari. Lecce picked up an important three points in their battle to climb to safety and Udinese boosted their hopes of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League again. Veteran striker Amauri scored a last-gasp winner as Fiorentina put a dent in Milan's title defence after a 2-1 success at San Siro. Zlatan Ibrahimovic gave the Rossoneri the lead from the penalty spot on 31 minutes following a foul on Maxi Lopez, who then struck the post before half-time. Fiorentina levelled two minutes into the second half through Stevan Jovetic before substitute Amauri popped up with a minute to go to boost the Viola's hopes of staying in the top flight. Inter Milan were twice forced to come from behind to draw 2-2 at Cagliari in a game which does little to enhance their prospects of Champions League qualification. Davide Astori put mid-table Cagliari ahead after just five minutes, but Inter were level within 60 seconds through Argentine striker Diego Milito. Cagliari's lead was restored on 61 minutes through Mauricio Pinilla, who was then shown a second yellow card for his celebration, and Inter snatched a point three minutes later thanks to Esteban Cambiasso's goal. Lecce are now within four points of survival after withstanding a late fightback to secure an impressive 4-2 home win over Roma. Luis Muriel opened the scoring midway through the first half and David Di Michele netted a minute before the break, with both players then on target in the second half. Muriel made it 3-0 on 49 minutes and he was then fouled in the box on 56 minutes to allow Di Michele to convert the penalty. Roma staged a late rally as Bojan and Erik Lamela scored inside the final two minutes, but the result leaves the visitors facing a battle to sneak into the Champions League places. Udinese are in a strong position to qualify for Europe's elite club competition after Kwadwo Asamoah scored twice in a 3-1 home win over Parma. Asamoah scored at the end of each half, with Antonio Di Natale also scoring for Udinese, who had been made to sweat by Alessandro Lucarelli's goal for Parma on 84 minutes. Bottom club Cesena failed to boost their survival prospects following a 0-0 home draw with Bologna. Novara, who sit second bottom, were also held at home and finished the game with 10 men after a 1-1 stalemate with Genoa. Rodrigo Palacio had given Genoa an early lead which was cancelled out by substitute Giuseppe Mascara midway through the second half before Novara's Andrea Caracciolo was sent off late on. Chievo Verona remain comfortably in mid-table following an entertaining 3-2 victory at home over 10-man Catania. Michael Bradley scored after just six minutes for Chievo and the lead was doubled on 20 minutes through Sergio Pellissier's penalty after Catania's Nicolas Spolli had been sent off. A Marco Andreolli own goal gave Catania hope, but Alberto Paloschi scored a third for Chievo early in the second half before the visitors replied again with five minutes left through Sergio Almiron. Mattia Destro scored an injury-time winner as Siena came from behind to beat Atalanta 2-1 away from home. Atalanta had taken a sixth minute lead through Ezequiel Schelotto, but Siena were level seven minutes later thanks to Marcelo Larrondo's penalty and Destro then netted the winner in the first minute of stoppage-time. |
