Sevilla spell over for KanouteStriker's injury ends final season on a sad note
Frederic Kanoute: Has played the best football of his career with Sevilla Frederic Kanoute has played his last game for Sevilla after a leg injury cut short his final season with this club. The former Tottenham striker, 34, was substituted following a knock during Sevilla's 1-0 defeat to Athletic Bilbao on Sunday. A scan has since revealed the extent of the damage, with the former Mali international unlikely to recover in time for Sevilla's final league game on May 13. Kanoute will not renew his contract, which expires this summer, and revealed his disappointment at the manner of his final game with a club he holds in high regard. "I injured my leg in the game and I am out for at least five weeks. It is a sad way of finishing my contract with the club," he said. "This club has been great to me and I love it." FutureKanoute scored 135 goals for Sevilla after moving to the Primera Liga from Tottenham in 2005. Having also turned out for Lyon and West Ham, the French-born striker has no plans to retire and is keeping his options open, but a move to Qatar has being mooted. "I have not decided anything on my future yet," he said. "I am just waiting to be fit and see all the options I have, so I'll wait a bit to see where I will continue my career. "I think I can still play a number of years," he added.
