Shooters aim at GamesTeam GB looking for first shooting medal at Olympics since Sydney
Peter Wilson: currently the world number one and world-record holder in the double trap Peter Wilson will lead the hunt for medals as Great Britain's shooting team will continue their preparations for the Olympics at the ISSF Shooting World Cup. The 25-year-old starts the tournament, which doubles up as the test event for this summer's Games at The Royal Artillery Barracks in Woolwich, as the world number one and world-record holder in the double trap. Britain have not won a shooting medal at the Olympics since Richard Faulds took Gold at Sydney back in 2000. But Phil Scanlan, British Shooting's performance director, is confident they can break their duck this year. Pleased"We would be pleased to get one medal but we are hoping for more than that," he said. Wilson is currently their top prospect - he managed a world record on his way to victory in the Shotgun World Cup in Tucson, Arizona, earlier this year. "This is the first chance I have had to get on the range and pull the trigger and it's amazing," he said. "I don't think I ever thought I'd be shooting in a competition in London." The GB Olympic team will be named in May with Wilson, Faulds and 21-year-old James Huckle all having potential to claim a podium place on home soil. Huckle, from Harlow in Essex, said: "We are really confident, we've had some great preparation and as a team we are shooting really well."
