The reigning Olympic giant slalom champion descended in one minute 24.54 seconds to win by 0.18secs from American Julia Mancuso, with Marion Rolland rounding out the podium just behind.

Lindsey Vonn had to be content with sixth place, which was enough to confirm her as the champion, adding to her crystal globes in the downhill, combined and overall standings.

However, Vonn will be disappointed not to finish the super-G season on a winning note as she was ahead at every intermediate timecheck.

But a big mistake around six turns from the finish caused her to check her speed markedly, ruining her chances of a 13th World Cup victory of the season.

Vonn topped the season's standings by 72 points from Mancuso, with Anna Fenninger claiming third place.
