Another gruelling campaign saw her win four crystal globes, including the overall title by a massive margin that left her only 20 points shy of Hermann Maier's record mark.

But it took its toll on the 27-year-old, who has been told to rest by her physician.

"My right knee looks good. Left knee has some fraying of meniscus but no tear and cartilage has some wear but no tearing either. Just need some good old fashioned rest!!" Vonn wrote on her Facebook page.

"My dr and I are going to keep a close eye on it to make sure that I'm ready for next season."
