Thorn hits out at boardManager blames Sky Blues' hierarchy for slide towards relegationCoventry boss Andy Thorn has blasted the club's hierarchy for a lack of support after the club were left on the brink of relegation to League One following defeat at Millwall. Tuesday night's 1-0 home loss leaves the Sky Blues five points adrift of safety with just two matches remaining - and facing an extremely tall order if they are to avoid third-tier football for the first time since 1964. And a clearly frustrated and upset Thorn, so often composed, could not hide his emotions towards the powers that be at the Ricoh Arena. FrustrationThe cash-strapped club's financial difficulties over the past 12 months or more have been well publicised, with fans venting their frustration at owners SISU on more than one occasion this season while City's board has seen a host of comings and goings, including chairman Ken Dulieu and chief executive Paul Clouting. And Thorn's efforts on the pitch have certainly been hampered - notably with just one outfield player signed last summer following the departures of several key names, the sale of top scorer Lukas Jutkiewicz in January and a dearth of loan signings. Speaking post-match, Thorn, albeit refusing to give up on survival, said: "At the moment I feel angry and all sorts. I'm disappointed when I look at people and I see how much effort they give, what's been done and where we've been left. The whole lot." He added: "Every time we've put the players on the pitch they've been bang at it, they've given their all for me and for the club - we just haven't had enough of them. "I'm angry because I see the hurt in the players when they give everything but they've had no help, we've had no help, full stop. So that's where we are, that hurts. "From day one there's been no help with new players or anything like that. We've tried and tried and given our hardest and done everything... we've still got a chance to stay in there. It's probably not the right time to talk because I'm angry and I'm upset about it. "The lack of resources, the close season and early part of the season up until Christmas has killed us." Thorn felt the nature of defeat to Millwall was the story of Coventry's season. Gary McSheffrey saw his 56th-minute penalty saved by Maik Taylor in what was the clearest opening for a wasteful City side who fashioned a host of chances. And they were made to pay as Shane Lowry headed a winner for the Lions 10 minutes later. FortunateAn honest Kenny Jackett admitted his Millwall side were somewhat fortunate to come all with all three points - securing a fourth successive victory for the first time in over two years. "I thought we didn't play as well as we have been playing and Coventry missed a number of chances," he said. "My goalkeeper (Taylor) I put down as man of the match, which tells its own story of the game. "It wasn't a fantastic performance by ourselves after the emotions of Saturday, getting to 50 points and mathematically being safe from relegation."
