And fourth seed Denis Istomin followed Dolgopolov out of the tournament when he went down to Russia's Igor Andreev. Andreev broke his opponent four times en route to a 6-7 (3/7) 6-3 6-2 win.

In other second-round matches, Guillermo Garcia-Lopez of Spain beat Frenchman Paul-Henri Mathieu 6-4 6-2, while another Frenchman, Benoit Paire, beat Germany's Matthias Bachinger 6-7 (3/7) 6-3 6-2.
